Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

Making Progress.

We have the most beautiful day here, today. Clear skies, sunshine, mid 20s and a gentle breeze. Perfect. As a result it is hard to stay inside to sew, but  I have been catching up on a few projects. The embroidered blanket is nearly there – hooray! Just a few more leaves needed and then […]

Bunnies and Chooks.

I have continued to play with Easter projects. I needed to make extras of these to send away to some cute little family members. Then I decided I needed to have some of these fun little chickens to put in the parcel, too. Each one has a chocolate Easter egg tucked inside them. They are […]

White Rabbit, White rabbit.

March ends today and we will be in April tomorrow. Daylight saving ends here, so a little time adjustment is needed. And Easter is just around the corner!! Sneaking up fast. I have been able to make a couple of  felt rabbits for Easter decorations.  I simply did a search for a rabbit template then […]

More Bits.

We are enjoying a lovely long Labour Day weekend here and the weather is treating us very kindly. Beautiful sunshine and warm days. I have managed a little sewing and have finished the Southern Jewels quilt top. It’s a very simple pattern but is designed well to showcase Leesa Chandler‘s gorgeous fabrics. I made the […]

Going Green.

Quite accidentally, everything in this post is green. I only realised that when I was cropping the photos. We have a Magnolia Little Gem in our garden and there have been several flowers, but they have always been wind or rain damaged. It has been delightful to have one open when the weather has been […]

Just Stitching Along.

Totally unrelated to sewing – but I have been enjoying the fun home page on Google today. I can’t help but push the buttons and play with the monsters. They are muppets to mark Jim Henson’s 75th birthday! Now back to my  regular sewing.  It seems to have been a busy week but I have […]

What’s Happening?

Not a lot, it seems! I feel like I am busy doing lots of things but don’t have a lot to show for it. Very strange! A lot of time has been spent on fiddly things like preparing quilt tops for quilting and loads of cutting out. I have been adding the final borders to […]

Adding Colours.

I realised I hadn’t shared my progress with the Jacobean embroidery recently. It continues to grow slowly but steadily. I love the way the appearance changes when a few new and brighter colours are added.

Stitching Progress.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mums out there. Enjoy your special day! I have been working on this embroidery from Leanne Beasley of Leanne’s House.  I only have to add the 3 butterflies – needle turn applique. And also making slow progress on the jacobean embroidery.

Christmas Trio.

I like the idea of trying to do Christmas projects early in the year so there isn’t a mad rush at the end. But, like many others, this plan does not always work. This little embroidery was started last year but never quite made it in time for December 25.  So if I finish it […]
