Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

October Finishes.

I am enjoying our beautiful Spring weather here in October. Gorgeous sunshine and the garden is very happy.

I have continued to work on projects that need finishing. Several of those have been Wendy Williams patterns.

This wall hanging is a combination of three different designs.

Here they are before they were stitched together and quilted.

These are delightful little projects called Travel Threads.

Keeping the Wendy Williams theme going, I also finished the sheep. This one went into a hoop.

They have all been appliqued with wool felt and stitched with perle cottons.

I was asked by a friend to help out with mending a well loved bear. I decided to play around with something a bit different.

The front looks fine but the back arm and leg seams needed a lot of work. As did the paw which needed patching.

I hope this works and keeps it together for a while longer.

That’s it for me this week. Enjoy the weekend.

Cheers, Karen

  • All those glorious flowers!!! And your wool projects are just as glorious!!! All 4 are just as cute as each other! Great job on the teddy bear repair! It must be pretty special that they wanted you to repair it!

Wool felt and hand stitching has such a lovely, soft look, and those felt pieces would translate beautifully into patches too. Your layering is so clean. It comes from the same thinking we apply under every patch, where the right stabilizer foundation keeps everything crisp and pucker-free. Which Wendy Williams design is next on your list?

beautiful stitching on the felted wool. It really adds to it.
YOur garden is looking stunning, so much colour. Spring has definitely sprung.
    Teddy’s makeover/repair looks perfect.

Your appliqués and embroidery work are beautiful… the abundance of flowers, along with the sheep, is like a dream—just like your garden.
Where I live, the asters, roses, and dahlias bloom in all their glory until the first frost.
It is so wonderful that you rescued the teddy bear.
    Best wishes, Viola.
    Wishing you a happy week.

your garden looks wonderful… all those pinks. Great felt projects too.. the ocean ones look great together and I love those sheep…. all those stitches in the flowers/grass for them. Well done with the bear…. looks really good and fiddly to do!

I love your three ocean themed designs, they look so nice together. Poor old teddy hopefully he can be loved and cuddled some more after his repairs.
