2013 Is Well Under Way.

Time to get back on the horse. Or, to be real, time to get back to my blog.

The weather has made sure that we are having a real mixed bag to start the year. Lots of very hot days as well as crazy cool ones for this time of year, too.  Unfortunately many states have been experiencing bush fires and some are still burning.

On a positive side, several stores in my area are having some very good sales on quilting fabrics. Have to make the most of that!

My first show and tell for the year is a Christmas wall hanging. This was started in one of my classes before Christmas, but I knew with all that was planned that it would have to wait until after the New Year.

Lots of little yo-yos  are used to decorate the house.

They are used to make the trees.

And the lollipop flowers.

This quilt is based on a pattern called Lollipop Lane by Marcia Layton.

I am looking forward to getting back into a sewing routine, but I made the mistake of starting to Spring clean through the house. ( Yes, I know it’s Summer!) As a result I am making quite a mess in the name of cleaning. I am sure this urge will pass soon!!

Happy New Year!

  • This is SO CUTE! I just love all the yo-yos. I’ve learned that when a cleaning or organizing urge hits I drop everything and go with the flow… because it’s a rare event!

  • What is it about the Holidays that makes us want to jump in and clean and declutter? Sure plays havoc with our sewing time. Thought about you and wondered if you were near the fires. Glad you are safe. They look terrible on TV. Love, love, love this wall hanging!! Beautiful work.

  • Lovely quilt Karen and what an effective way to use yo-yos. Take care.
