Happy Australia Day

Beautiful weather here for Australia Day. It makes it very easy to get out and enjoy the day.

Sunburnt Quilts 2016 - Australia Day

In fact, the whole weekend has been pleasant. We have spent much of it in Geelong as that city hosted the Festival of Sails.  I am not the sailor in the family so I did lots of watching  and driving to and from.

And this was a nice surprise for Australia Day – petrol under a dollar. I wonder how long it will last?

To keep the Aussie theme going, I attended a high tea with a group of friends at Coombe Farm.

There is a restaurant built in the grounds of the home of Dame Nellie Melba.

It looks beautiful inside. The afternoon tea was delicious, of course. There is a tour of the gardens available and I am hoping to make a return visit especially for that.

No stitching to show, but there is binding going on another quilt.

I am off to be the taxi one more time as the sailing festival ends today.

Happy Australia Day.

Cheers, Karen

Don’t you think boats are wonderful to look at even if your not a sailor. Dame Nellie Melba’s house must have been interesting to see, definitely worth a trip to do a tour of the gardens.

Wow, lots of fun and interesting things to do for Australia Day! I didn’t even know there is such a day; although I assume that people throughout the world celebrate much like we do. At the very least, I assume they celebrate their own countries in some way. It’s good to see that we’re not so special after all! I’d love to do some sailing and would really love to visit that beautiful home. Those ceilings! If you’re going to take a break from stitching, this is definitely the way!

I love seeing photos of where others live. Had to laugh when I saw your petrol photo. I love taking photos just like that when I travel.
