Tangling.

Summer is lovely with all the warm days and the many outdoor activities. The only downside is that not a lot of sewing is being done. I suppose there is always Winter to catch up.
I was able to attend a one day class today for quilting with Zentangles. We spent the morning drawing on our tiles and selecting designs. In the afternoon we were busy stitching designs on to fabric with FMQ. I am not quite finished. I still need to stitch the binding down. I certainly learnt a lot from our teacher, Lee, and can see where I need to improve, but I definitely enjoyed the day.
I have also been playing with a tumbler quilt. Only a few rows done there. ( Yes, it needs ironing.)
On another day a group of friends spent an afternoon here making cards. I still have these examples.
And these cheeky birds have been making a lot of noise outside in the tree.
They definitely know how to enjoy the Summer days.
I have not heard of the Zentangles type of quilting. It looks like fun. I like your designs. I’m going to have to learn more about this! I like the beginnings of your tumbler quilt. It’s one of my favorite designs. Beautiful birds!!
oopppsss…..ZENtangle.
Love your Pintangle. I have tried them on paper but have yet to try it in thread!!
Lovely stuff! The zentangles look amazing, the tumblers colours are lovely and the cards are so pretty :). The rainbows here will have competition from the Crimson Rosellas soon as February/March seems to be the season for them. They’re also just as pretty and noisy!!
Busy, busy, busy. This all made me think of summers of childhood. New things to try and old favorites to fall back on. Love the nature shots.
Your Zentangles look wonderful! Thanks for sharing your Summer Pictures. Those of us in the frozen north appreciate them.
Oh, more lovely pictures of rainbow lorikeets! I saw a quilt magazine with a Zentangles DVD with it just yesterday! Your tumblers are very pretty too!
I don’t know much about Zentangles but the latest Quilters Companion has a video about them this month so I’ll watch that. Yours looks amazing!! I can see you’ll have fun with it. The tumbler quilt is such beautiful fabrics and colours!! Noisy parrots!! That red gum is glorious!!
I would hate to see anyone doing tangling really well if yours is “so so”. It looks great to me, as do your tumblers (aren’t they fun!) and cards. We don’t get birds that colorful here as a rule, so I enjoy seeing yours.
I’ve been toying with trying Zentangles – looks fun! And, those tumblers look great – love the colors!
Oh I wish I lived somewhere to have those birds in my view!!! I’ve been really getting into the written Zentangle, and subscribe to a great Newsletter. I’ve really got to try it with sewing!!! and I need to look for a teacher.
I had never heard of Zentangles before…wow. Thanks for sharing that and the lovely tumbler and the beautiful nature shots!
Wow, so that is what you have been up to. I have never heard of Zentangles either, so I am off to google it myself. Your card is beautiful and the bird – WOW what a gorgeous bird!! We have nothing but starlings and magpies here! They are boring :-( hahaha Your tumbler quilt is on it’s way to being a stunning beauty! For not getting much done in the summer, you sure have been busy! :-)
Beautiful cards! And wouldn’t it be awesome to look out the window and see birds like those.
What great designs, this should give you lots of ideas. Love a tumbler block and have never made one yet.
A day spent with friends always comes out good not matter what you do! The cards are charming.
Those birds are beautiful!
The zentangles are amazing… look such fun to make…. your tumblers look great – I was pleased to see a few of my flowering gum have opened today …. I wonder if the rainbows will get into it… they are so cheeky and noisy

Hi Karen,
I have to say, if I was a bird and I spotted such stunning flowers like that, I would be pecking away at them too!! lol. Lovely patchworking and cards.
Regards, Anita.
Wow…some great projects! Love the zen tangles…looks like quite a creative process and I love the colors of your tumblers. I just started to quilt my blue tumbler quilt…so much fun and it’s coming together fairly quickly. Thanks for sharing!
