Just Keep Going.

We are in lock down still. Apparently we hit 200 days of cumulative lock down since the start of the pandemic last year. So it really is a case of just keep going. So I did.

I finished putting together a quilt top that I had started last year. I had done two of the four panels, so completed to second set.

The fabrics are by Me and My Sister. I had several charm packs from different ranges, but because they always use similar colours, they all worked together. I think I only had to hunt for three pieces to complete the top.

I will sort out a backing and hopefully get it sandwiched soon.

I then started to cut out the pieces for my next quilt top. It is called The Avenue. I think there are 14 pieces in each block so i needed to do a bit of planning and preparation.

I thought it a good idea to do a test block to make sure I was on track.

The block is larger than you think – about 9 by 14 inches. I have completed the cutting for the tree top and now have to get all the background done. This is the pattern. I thin I have to make 25 blocks.

Well, that is what is going to keep me going for a while. The numbers in several states are rising so I can’t see an easy or early end to our lock down. All I can say is take care to everyone.

Cheers, Karen

  • Great use of HSTs! And I do love your Avenue quilt block! Interesting low volume prints.

  • I love the quilt. All of those bright and fun colors set the design off beautifully!! And “the Avenue”…..WOW. The piecing looks complicated. I can’t wait to see how you do the curved bits!!! I’m so sorry to hear that you are back in lockdown!!

Beautiful work with your quilt, so bright and colourful. Good to help not think about the lockdown issue. Here in Western Australia we are cautiously enjoying freedom with the distancing rules applying in most instances. It is a challenge to our daily lives. I hope things improve on the east side of Australia. x

  • Great use of your time, putting together a completed top. So cute! I agree with Carole–they look like flying birds! Your next quilt is modern and very appealing, too!

Yes, we must keep going! All those HST are quite an achievement! And The Avenue quilt has long been on my ‘to-do’ list! I like that is has a combination of curved piecing, simple straight piecing and wee bit of appliqué! I think I will need to buy that pattern at some stage.

  • I think we quilters are fortunate to have our stitching to keep us from going crazy during these troubled times. Your HST quilt is very striking and love The Avenue….take care xx

Quilting certainly keeps us busy during lockdown, your projects look lovely. Here in New Zealand the Delta version has finally arrived on our shores, and we have just been put into lockdown for the last week. Starting with just one case, the numbers soon explode. Auckland city is the worst affected, but sadly it has found it’s way to other places, so we will have to wait and see. Like you, I’ve plenty of projects to keep me busy. Take care, and stay safe.

Lockdown? R we not so sick of this by now. It is a bit depressing. You did a great job with the triangles…motivating me.. Here in North Carolina people are fighting about mask mandates in the schools. People have gone absolutely nuts…take care

  • Stay safe, your quilt looks wonderful, reminds me of migrating birds.
