Happy Turtles.

This is a quilt design from People, Places and Quilts that I found when we were in South Carolina.
It is the sort of design that can be used in so many different ways. The pattern only has a single block design to be made as many times as needed for the quilt size. Then there is the decorating of each turtle. The originals had ric-rac but I chose to quilt each shell instead.
I used batiks throughout and found that a black and white print background worked well against the vibrant colours. I quilted the background in white thread but used a multi-coloured thread for the turtles and the borders.
I found enough of this yellow spotty fabric for the backing.
I am now looking at different ways to play with this pattern. I wonder if I could have Christmas turtles?
The right fabrics and a Santa hat might just work.
Have a great week.
Cheers, Karen

This is “sew” darn cute and so fitting. We were trying to round up people at the wedding rehearsal the other night and I commented it was like moving a herd of turtles! :-)
What an adorable, colorful and joyous quilt. I love how the quilting simulates scales. You did a wonderful job!!!
Happy cute little turtles. Great looking quilt!
Love them Karen. Would be a great scrap buster with different little turtles x
