Happy Squares.

Very happy to see another finish. This is not a very big quilt but it is enough to have on your lap for a bit of extra warmth. The size was dictated by the amount of fabric I had – the Japanese indigo prints. I kept going until I had very few scraps left over.

I had lots of red and orange fabric, so no limits there.

The design was very simple – six oblong pieces around each square.

I also enjoyed the lovely designs in the indigo fabrics.

I pieced the backing from a selection of reds in my stash.

And found another length of fabric for the binding. It is actually the square showing in the picture below.

It has turned very cold here and we have also gone into another lock down. Possibly for only seven days. Fingers crossed as hubby is in hospital and no visitors are allowed during the lock down.

To finish on a bright note, here are the beautiful colours in the leaves of our ornamental pears.

Cheers, Karen

You know you had my attentions with oriental fabrics. These are just beautiful. It’ fun to work on a project until you run out of fabric. Looks like you had just the right amount! Hope hubby is ok.

Karen, that is a beautiful quilt! I love the contrast between the squares and the background. I hope your husband is on the mend and home soon.

  • I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love that quilt! It is perfection.
So sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he is soon recovered and back with you.

Congrats on finishing another quilt! It’s beautiful! I also love the pieced backing, great way to use up fabric from your stash. It’s getting cooler here too, but not cold enough to get the autumn colors. So sorry about your hubby in hospital as well as the lock down. We are in ‘phase #2’ of reopening after the second lock down that began in March.

I love how you used these beautiful fabrics. Keeping the design simple allows the fabrics to be the focal point. I’m sorry you’re experiencing another lockdown. I hoping we haven’t moved forward too quickly and find ourselves going backward.
