Great Excitement!!!!

Ed: Linking to A Beach Cottage – Good Life Wednesday.

Just over a week ago  I received my advance copy of Handmade Magazine. This was because I have had a quilt published in it. First time, ever!

I was excited to just have a quilt in the magazine but when it arrived I was even more excited as it was included on the front cover!!

My quilt was included as part of the Mother’s Day feature. I am delighted with the layout inside the magazine.

As if that wasn’t enough, I saw it on the magazine stands at the airport as we were leaving to fly to Sydney.

This was a quilt that I had made last year. I had used a combination of pink fabrics from Sewing Connection, in Pakenham, to make a snowball quilt. I had also attended a 2 day workshop with Deborah Louie at the same shop to learn free motion quilting.  This was the first quilt I used to experiment with those skills.

I had made it to use as a  cover for our grand daughter’s bed when they visited earlier this year.

I had no plans for this quilt to be published but was encouraged by a good friend, Cheryl Billing Smith, to do so. Cheryl also has a quilt she has designed in this issue of the magazine.

I have since attended another Deb Louie workshop and am looking forward to developing more skills with free motion quilting.

I really like the way the back looks, too.

A close up of the flowers in each snowball.

And the pebbles in the border.

Thank you for indulging my excitement for my first, and probably only, publication.

Hi Karen, Congrats on the magazine feature, the quilt is beautiful! I think quilting takes lots of patience. My Grandmother did it, it was so much fun helping her put her pretty fabric squares and shapes together. Have a Wonderful Wednesday, xxx tami
