Spots and Polka Dots.

Another Colourful Friday has arrived and Robyn has asked us to look for spots and polka dots in any colour. This is rather dangerous for a patchworker because you can never have too many of these in your stash! I had to make sure I only took a handful off the shelves!
I did find a few other things around the house, too, that fit the bill. Visit Robyn at Daisy Quilts to see how dotty the participants have become!
Of course there are buttons. These have not even managed to escape their packaging, yet.
And this little guy has shared the spotlight before, but I thought he fit the theme perfectly.
I am in the process of making several of the bunnies for Easter. The pattern was in Homespun magazine last year.
Some spots for a cuppa when needed.
Last, but not least, of course, the fabric.
There was only more thought for a photo of spots – me. I am covered in them — well, freckles, really. But then I decided just to leave it as a thought!
Have a wonderful spotty and dotty weekend!
It’s Picnic Day.

The bear I have chosen for the picnic today is more of a doll pattern, but is still a very friendly bear. He has great big feet and a lovely face. I hope my memory is correct – I think the pattern is designed by Sewn From The Heart. I may need to take an umbrella today as there are a few showers about.
Melody is hosting The Teddy Bear’s Picnic again today. You can join in too, over at The House On The Side Of The Hill. Melody also has some links to some wonderful knitted softies. Take a visit!
I also found a some framed teddy pictures and a couple of little ornaments. The ornaments are part of the Gnomy’s Diaries collection. Just a bit of fun.
Two Little Friends.

The pattern for these koalas appeared in a homespun magazine last year – Issue 80. The design is by Rosalie Quinlan. In her original pattern the overalls have a full bib and straps. I decided to make these with elasticised waists so that little fingers could easily dress and undress them.
It is a very easy and quick pattern to make. May have to find some gum leaves for them.
A Little Redwork.

Lots of people have been working on embroideries from A Gardener’s Journal. I am not planning on completing the whole set. Instead, I have chosen a few of the smaller ones that I thought I could put into a wall hanging. I also decided to do them as redwork. I may add just one or two more, then choose some fabric to use to piece them together.

I had started this quilt last year. My friend was making the same quilt so we worked together piecing the panels and then had another day pinning the layers together. Along came all the Christmas sewing and this one was put aside. It was good to be able to take it out and know that all the preparation was done and that I could start right in on the quilting.
I had a little play with parts of the quilt – some pebbles, wavy lines, curves and meanderings. Always love a stripey binding. Good to have it ready for visitors in a couple of weeks. I’m sure it will be down on the floor with toy cars driving all over it. Just what it is made for!
Waiting For Borders.

I have finally made progress with this quilt. I have been using Leesa Chandler’s beautiful fabric – Under The Australian Sun – but did not have any for the setting triangles and borders. I had a couple of possible fabrics but just wasn’t convinced that they were the best I could do. Thankfully my LQS received more of Leesa’s fabric and in it was one I hadn’t seen before that was perfect for my needs. As a result, I have been able to finish the piecing and now only have borders to add. Love the result.
A Black And White Friday.

Hi!
For Colourful Friday this week Robyn has asked us to look for black and white. Take a visit to Daisy Quilts to see what everyone has found.
There is so much to choose from so I decided to stay with fabrics and notions. I am also still having computer issues so will just have to let the photos go their own way without explanations next to them.
There are some really cute fabrics around. Love the cats and dogs.
Who could pass up on these gorgeous little kids and their toys?
And there’s always buttons and notions.
There’s also dots and spots and a finish with some lovely flowers.
Yellow Bear.

This cuddly fellow is Yellow Bear. He was a pattern in a craft magazine many years back. Yellow Bear is made out of plush felt and his vest is wool felt. A group of us got together and all made our own version of Yellow Bear.
Today he is joining Melody’s Teddy Bear’s Picnic at The House On The Side Of The Hill. Visit to see the other bears at the picnic.

We have been going through one of those long computer sagas over the last 4 weeks where a variety of different things do and don’t want to work. In the end all the time and work was to no avail and it has gone in for extensive rehab. Hopefully by the end of the week we will have all new up to date technology at our fingertips. I am looking forward to being able to find bookmarks, email addresses, photos and programs again that I do not have on the laptop. Can’t wait!
I am still catching up with UFOs. I pinned this one recently and do hope to start quilting it very soon. I do need to finish the race track quilt for our grandson first though.
This little quilt and stitchery is called Home Sweet Home and is a pattern by Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches.
Natalie has gorgeous birdhouses.
And the most delightful little birds.
Polar Bear Getting Hot At The Picnic.

This has to be one of the easiest bears I have made. Simple and cute.
He’s going to the picnic organised by Melody over at The House On The Side Of The Hill. I think he is hoping there will be a swimming pool so he can cool off!
