Chicks And Dinosaurs.

It has taken a while, but I have managed to collect a good range of wool to be able to use in applique projects. It is becoming easier to purchase here in Australia.
So my first play with this technique is Bertie’s Spring which is a Bonnie Sullivan pattern.
There are four panels, so obviously there are three more to go. These are very easy to stitch, but as with many projects, there is a lot of preparation.
We have also had a 4th birthday for a grandie, so of course there has been some sewing.
Dinosaurs are a popular interest at this age, so some dino cushions were in order.
Here are the covers before the inserts were added.
The dinosaur outlines are from a quilt pattern and then I used some free motion stitching to create a background.
I think I now have a footy hat a scarf to knit because the season has started!

I love the fabric for the triceratops body!! How groovy. It’s fun to have children of the age where the dinosaurs are all the rage.You’ve been very busy making those delish projects. And yes…. footy season is upon us…go the mighty Eagles!!!! lol

I love the Bertie pieces! And I love working with wool. You did a great job with your dinosaurs. What a wonderful grandmother.
I don’t know which I prefer–the chicks and that cute, cute scene or the dinos that remind me of my boys at a young age. Oh, were they into dinosaurs. I remember finally giving up and bathing with dinos in the tub…I was exhausted and cold, and they (these huge plastic dinosaurs) had set up housekeeping in the bathtub. I just ran a hot bath and we all soaked for a spell. In summer they migrated to the grassy areas in the yard, but it was winter and too cold for anyone (dinos included) to play outside. Isn’t it amazing what someone else’s beautiful work can affect us so?
It’s not often you see chicks and dinosaurs in the one post. I love them all. From the looks of things you’ve got a great wool collection to make such a pretty scene. Your dinosaur cushions are great fun, your grandson will be very impressed.
