Rabbits And Birds.

When I first saw this fabric range I really liked it and bought several fat quarters. Of course this creates a problem because I had no particular pattern in mind so then had to work out how to use the fabric. I had seen this layout a while back and thought it would suit. It took a little bit of maths to make to make it work and thankfully there was enough for the quilt with very little left over.
I was quite taken by the birds and rabbits in the design.
I kept the quilting very simple and used my walking foot with a wavy line. This went on some of the vertical and horizontal seams. Certainly much better than trying to stitch in the ditch. I also went around the smaller squares inside squares.
I didn’t have enough of any one fabric for the binding so I combined two colours and alternated them.
The backing is from a completely different range but the colouring and design worked well with the quilt top fabrics.
I think we have managed to settle back into standard time with the end of daylight saving. It always seems so much easier when it ends.
I do hope your week is going well.
Cheers, Karen
I love this Karen! Love the fabric and the pattern. Long time since you’ve heard from me. All is well and I hope it is with you too!
I love these colors and what a fun way to put them together. You lost me with the math though! LOL! I’m no fan of stitch in the ditch, but I love your little waves. It gives a whole new look to things! PERFECT!!
What a pretty line of fabric. And what a good job you’ve done of designing a quilt with it. I like that wavy line quilting, too!
Is the line from Kate and Birdie? If so, they are Canadian girls : )
The quilt is just darling!
what a lovely quilt yo uhave made with your fat quarters….

What a great quilting stitch and those colors are so soft and pretty.Congratulations on your book win!
How very sweet this little quilt is! I love the fabrics and the design. Your backing works beautifully with the fabrics. It has a 1930’s feel but not quite. I think maybe it’s the white squares that give it a fresh look. I can’t say enough how much I love it!
I haven’t seen this fabric before, I can see why you wanted a FQ pack, it’s such pretty colours and the bunnies and birds are so sweet. Your quilt shows them off perfectly. I love your quilting too, it adds a lovely texture.
I love it! I also have a tendency to buy fat quarters and then not know what to do with them. You’ve achieved a great success. Love the quilting, too!
Well Karen, it doesn’t look like it created too much of a problem for you……You’ve mixed the fabrics very well! Looks super girl. My mixes never look that good.
Cheers, Anita.
Beautiful quilt. I had been thinking of quilting using wavy lines like you did–now having seen it done, I am confident I can do it also. Thank you.
You are so clever Karen. I often buy several fat 1/4 s I, love and then don’t know how to use them together…lovely quilt x
I LOVED that range when I saw it at my LQS! But at the time I was on a serious fabric diet ! Now that I am going to be a grandma, I suppose I won’t be able to find it again! It’s a great colour palette for either a girl or a boy!
Love this fabric. I’ve not seen it before. Very clever how you used it too.
Karen the quilt is really gorgeous I love the bunnies they are so sweet.
