Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

Welcome Winter.

Posted on | June 7, 2014 | 16 Comments

Here we are at the start of Winter, but my trees seem to have skipped a season. As you can see in the photo there are hardly any leaves turning colour or falling to the ground. Yet only a few streets away, these same trees have dropped their leaves and the branches are bare. Very strange.

It has turned very cold and it is perfect weather for being inside and sewing. I have a lot of projects on the go, but very few finishes.

I have been quilting away on this one and am ready to start the binding.

There were a few left over HSTs so I used them to make some doll quilts.

I was also asked by our grand daughter to make another mattress and pillow for her second American Girl Doll.

And I included a small crochet doll blanket.

I have been busy sandwiching and pinning some tops ready for quilting.

And I have made the backing for this one so I can send it to my quilter next week.

Just for fun, I have been going to Secret Santa classes with Rosalie Quinlan.

Here is our most recent project.

We have a long weekend here to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, but I didn’t get invited to the party. Maybe next time!

Have a lovely weekend.

Cheers, Karen

  • As you can see, I am WAY behind in my blog reading. Your AG doll things are so cute. The little snowpeople are adorable! And your quilts are pretty. I especially like the pink, green and aqua one.

  • My, you HAVE been busy! Those fabrics in the first quilt are just the cutest, great quilting, too, and your hst doll quilts are just sweet. The American Girl bed and blanket…..makes me want to be one of your granddaughters. Yes, I know I’m too old, but still. So many projects so close to completion. Wonder Woman you! And Rosalie Quinlan, I’m not going to be jealous. Well, not much!

Well, you sure have been busy. Love the bright colors on your quilts. Your grands are going to have the best dressed and most comfy slept dolls on the planet. LOL!! Too cute.

What fun little snowmen your making. What a great class, and what better time to work on those projects but now.

I wouldn’t worry too much about not being invited to the Queens “stately” event…it usually means you have to dress up, and who wants to do that? It’s way more fun to stitch in your comfy clothes at home! ;-)

Love your quilts and I especially love the little snowmen. Not sure if we have summer yet, it’s been really nice for a few days, now it’s raining and cool again. Hugs xx
