There Can Never Be Too Many Santas!

Posted on | November 24, 2010 | 4 Comments

It’s a month out from Christmas and I am struggling to make myself wait to put up decorations. I will have to make do with getting a few quilts out in preparation.

This wall hanging was a Debbie Mumm panel. I did a small amount of piecing, but the main work was  embellishing the blocks.

French knots everywhere and hand quilting to outline shapes.

Embroidery, beads and trinkets added.

Colonial knot snowflakes and more buttons.

More embroidery and beads and button trees.

Beads all over the fur trim, Holly buttons and so many knots for the beards.

It was one of those projects that started off small but just grew and grew. It took a long time to finish. Now I can simply enjoy it!

Your excitement is totally understandable. :) Question is — when do you finally take down your decorations.

Love your quilt – and all the embellishments!

I have a Santa quilt too – Santa and his forest friends. I love the idea of embellishing with French knots – wonder if I could do that even though the quilt is finished.

Those are too cute. It’s amazing how much embellishing adds to a project isn’t it? You did a great job of it.
