Karen.
Gippsland, on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia.
For as long as I can remember, I have had an interest in sewing. I thoroughly enjoy patchwork, quilting, embroidery and doll making. Scrapbooking sneaks in there sometimes, too.
I am recently retired and am enjoying spending more time with my family, friends and my crafts.
This site will give me the opportunity to keep a record of the things I love to make.
It is once again time for Sew Cal Gal’s Christmas Quilt Show. This is a wonderful showcase for many Christmas and Winter quilts from around the globe. Take some time to visit Sew Cal Gal to see some great ideas and be inspired. (Click on the link above.) Thanks, Darlene, for all the work you do to prepare this show.
I managed to finish the binding on my quilt over the weekend. Not too hard as it is a smaller stitchery quilt. It measures 33 X 41 inches.
This little quilt is a pattern from The Birdhouse by Natalie Bird called TIS THE SEASON. I wanted to stay with the red and green theme but didn’t stick to the traditional shades. The fabric colours were influenced by the embroidery threads.
They are lovely variegated threads from Cottage Garden Threads. This particular colour is called Running Postman. I just love that name! Here’s a few more blocks.
I did a very simple meander and loop in the quilting.
With a few stars thrown in.
The backing and binding were the same as fabrics used in the blocks.
Thank you so much to Sew Cal Gal for this amazing display of quilts and to the wonderful sponsors for their support, too.

Karen, your stitcheries are so sweet! You must have a lot of patience to get all of those completed….or maybe you have a lot of soccer games to wait through? I used to do that! Love the unusual colors – a beautiful project and a great job. Thanks for sharing!
