Sunburnt Quilts

Hot And Easily Distracted.

I have cut out the kitchen window quilt I mentioned in the last post. But with the forecast for our weather, ( 44c or 111F), I decided to cut out several other quilts so I had plenty to do inside with the aircon flowing.

That’s where the distraction came in. I was fascinated by the disappearing pinwheel that was from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  So of course I had to play with it to see how it worked. These are the first blocks I tried using Kate Spain’s Terrain. Not even trimmed or pressed yet.

With the help of a friend I also caught up on a few card UFOs.

Some were from several years ago. This book opens like a star. Ready now for photos.

This one was a little Christmas folder with inserts.

Another Christmas card.

This last one is a puzzle card. The sides or top fold over to reveal different sections.

I hope everyone in the southern part of Australia manages to stay out of the heat.  Unfortunately there are a lot of fires breaking out, too. Stay safe.

What fun little disappearing pinwheels. I do love pinwheels! Setting them in the Churndash is just too fun! I heard about your heat wave the other day, and thought about you. So I am guessing that visiting in January is not the best time of the year??? Hope you can stay cool and continue to work on your UFO’s. Your photo folders and puzzle cards are really cool. Something has to be right? LOL!

  • Hi Karen – I love the blocks! They’re really fun to look at and have that little extra pizzaz from the mini pinwheels in the center :) Can’t wait to see how you put them all together! Stay cool! Linda

I’ve been thinking of my Victorian friends. It was hot here at 37 but that relatively cool compared to your temps. I love your new blocks. A few more hot days and you’ll have a quilts worth of blocks made. Your cards are so fun. It’s clever that the photo book opens like a star. .

I got distracted by the disappearing pinwheel this last weekend. I made 3, they will finish at 9″, 6″ and 3″.

The centre on the 3″ one is very bulky!

I don’t envy you that heat, with or with out high humidity that is brutal.
