Enjoying The Net.

One of the things I thoroughly enjoy about the Internet, and blogs specifically, is that so many people are prepared to share their wonderful ideas.
This week I have have enjoyed making several items using tutorials from blogs.
The first one is the S’Mitten Quilt from Erin Russek on her blog One Piece at a Time. I had a trial run using blues and reds in the mittens. I like the end result so now I can make the rest of the blocks. Thank you Erin for a wonderful pattern.
Another blog with lots of ideas is Bugs and Fishes by Laura Howard. Laura had a wonderful tutorial for felt owls. Thank you, Laura.
Mine is complete and now just needs filling.
Another blog I regularly visit is The House On The Side Of The Hill. Melody often highlights some lovely tutorials for a variety of crafts – especially on the days for The Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Thank you, Melody.
There are so many ideas out there and definitely not enough time!
Bears In Boxes.

Another picnic day has arrived. Time to visit Melody at The House On The Side Of The Hill to join in the picnic.
I was searching for a particular fabric the other day when I found this piece covered in gorgeous bears. I have used it on several occasions but still have a good metre left to use when I find the right project.
I have also been hunting up some projects that need finishing. In the bear box I have a lovely bear pattern all cut out and waiting to go. This is beautiful fur and the colours are vibrant. I hope to have the bear and the tree ready for Christmas.
I do hope you can stay warm and cosy for the picnic today. Have a lovely time.
A Difference In A Day.

I am so pleased I had a bright sunny photo yesterday, because today is the exact opposite. Cold, cloudy and drizzly with rain. The good thing for us is that we are gradually filling those reservoirs again, and boy, do we need it after so many years of drought. It has been a very good Winter in that respect.
Now if you need a bit of cheering up on a miserable day, take a visit to Joan at MooseStash Quilting and read this post. I was joking with Joan about the extras I would like in a car for quilters and this is what she came up with. Enjoy a laugh!
I have been doing lots of chain piecing with little squares and rectangles using a jelly roll called The Caroler by Mary Engelbreit.
I am using a pattern called Country Garden Maze from an early copy of the Irish Quilting and Craft Magazine.
I think the pieces multiply in the dark when I am not looking. There seem to be so many! And this is just the first block.
I think it is one of those quilts that seems a little fiddly because it uses a lot of small pieces, but hopefully the end result is worth it.
Elaine, at Muddling Through, is working on another scrappy quilt that involves a lot of cutting and chain piecing too. Good luck, Elaine.
August Wattle.

No quilting related info in this post at all!
Although it is Winter and very wet and cold, I still love this time of year because the wattles are all coming into bloom.
When you see something like this it just has to lift your spirits!!
What’s Happening?

Not a lot, it seems!
I feel like I am busy doing lots of things but don’t have a lot to show for it. Very strange! A lot of time has been spent on fiddly things like preparing quilt tops for quilting and loads of cutting out.
I have been adding the final borders to the red quilt.
I am on to the last two stitcheries for Tis the Season.
And of course, when you are busy, start something new! This is a woollen blanket using a design for one of the Inspiration blanket books. The aim is to cover it with leaves and blackberries. The berries are gorgeous when finished, with all their beads.
I did manage to finish that cute little bag from Melly and Me, but was in such a rush to post it that I forgot a photo.
Hope your week is going well.
Colourful Leafy Friday.

Robyn has sent us all off to hunt for leaves for this Colourful Friday. Check Daisy Quilts to see what everyone has found.
During Easter I found two rabbits hiding in amongst the pumpkin leaves.
Recent Autumn leaves.
Some quilty leaves from a quilt made a long time ago.
Can’t go without finding a koala eating gum leaves.
And this one was having a sleep in the gum leaves.
I couldn’t totally resist selecting some fabric, so chose Leesa Chandler’s gorgeous gum leaves from her range, Under The Australian Sun.
Have a wonderful Friday.
Bits and Pieces.

I seem to be having a bits and pieces week. Nothing seems to be getting finished but then, other bits are progressing. That’s fine.
I have started a very simple table runner/centre using one of Saffron Craig’s designs, Day Owl.
I am steadily completing the blocks for Tis The Season. Only 2 left to go.
This is the start of a child’s bag from Melly and Me.
I am planning to visit the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne tomorrow. Looking forward to loads of inspiration!
Stash Manicure Thanks.

I want to send a very big thank you to Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt @ Stash Manicure for the lovely gift that arrived on my doorstep. I was the lucky winner of the wonderful July 4th give away.
I was thrilled when I opened the parcel. In keeping with the July 4th theme all the fabrics and threads are red, white and blue. There were quite a few extras also, as you can see.
I am delighted with my prizes and consider myself very lucky. Thank you once again, Madame Samm.
174 And A Border.

I have finally finished making 174 drunkard’s path blocks!!
I can now start to make the borders for my big red quilt.
This is the first border put together so I took a photo to get a true idea of how it looks. Shouldn’t take me long to put the rest together.
Triangular Friday.
Posted on July 15, 2011 | 12 Comments
Today for Colourful Friday Robyn, of Daisy Quilts, has asked us to look for triangles. I was surprised at how little I was able to find around my home, but of course my quilts did not let me down.
I thought this one with the North Wind block had a good collection of triangles.
And of course half square triangles are a favourite for Robyn.
Triangles turn up everywhere.
Last one.
Visit Robyn to see what everyone else has found with triangles.
