Happy 2020.

Posted on | January 8, 2020 | 11 Comments

Time to get back into sewing and blogging for 2020. Decorations are packed away for another year. And I have scared the daylights out of myself by collecting together all the projects needing a finish.

I have returned to working on Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. I looked back at my posts and realised I have not touched it since March last year. That was around the time the building started here. Lots was put aside around then. So here are blocks 3 and 4.

Glad to be back to it and seeing progress.

This is the centre of a Wendy Williams wall hanging ready for trimming and borders to be added.

This felt cardinal found its way to me and is a welcome addition to my Christmas decorations. Can’t quite put it away yet. It came from a stall raising money for a Women’s Shelter.

Everyone has been hearing about the horrific fires here in Australia. It is hard to comprehend the enormity of this disaster. And unfortunately there are still concerns that conditions will worsen again this Friday.

Our area is not under threat – we had our fire back in Feb last year. But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen again. So everyone is being vigilant.

So many parts of the country are covered in smoke. We are even sending it to New Zealand. We are seeing some very strange skies, especially at sunset.

I can’t believe we had a full rainbow in a sky full of smoke. It looks like the smoke is only below the rainbow, too. Can’t explain that.

My thanks go out to all involved in the fire fighting and recovery efforts everywhere in our country. Amazing people.

Cheers, Karen

DCFP is such a lovely project – how nice that you’re back into it again! Your WW piece looks amazing! Gorgeous Cardinal. After having that smoke here, I can only imagine how the skies were over your way – your rainbow photo is intriguing!

I know those fires have been devastating and frightening–glad to hear that you are not in harms way. Your Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs project is darling–so fun and whimsical!

Looks like 2020 is going to keep your hands busy. Lovely projects, and the cardinal is so cute. Have a great 2020!

  • That cardinal is so cute! I don’t think I’d be able to put it away yet either. I like your projects, as always! You seem to have so many interesting projects on the go!

  • Those fires have become something of concern all the way here in Louisiana. The news is frightening and we keep wondering how people are handling the smoke. Fire-fighters and all rescue people are such a blessing to those of us who haven’t a chance of surviving when in great danger.
Yes, I agree with Joan, stitching and creativity are portals to happier places.
    Have a wonderful 2020!

Sending my best to everyone involved in the fires. It’s been a horrific loss. Thank goodness stitching puts us in a happy place usually! :-) Happy 2020

Dancing chickens and flying pigs certainly seems a fun project, and your little cardinal is so lovely.
It’s amazing to think the smoke can travel so far across the sea, we have seen some quite different sun sets here too.
Stay safe, pleased you are not in the patching the fire.

  • It’s always a pleasure visiting with you… with lots of beautiful items to absorb.
Gorgeous studio by the way… xox

Hi Karen I always enjoy seeing your beautiful work and your little cardinal is adorable I would keep it out for a bit longer too.
The fires are horrific, the smoke haze in Portarlington is bad so trying to keep inside ,we have been going to Geelong for most of our walks as the haze isn’t as bad there, stay safe my friend xx

    Hello Karen,

Happy 2020. Love the project you are working on, lovely and bright. The fires are making their own weather patterns so anything is possible.
Your cardinal is so lovely, I would keep it out on display too.
    Happy days.
    Bev.
