Little Things Grow.

Happy October. We have been making the most of our Spring weather with lots of time outside and in the garden. We took down some huge branches overhanging a work shed and our timing was perfect as the next day we had strong winds – over 100kph – that did a lot of damage across our state. Mind you, that is nothing compared to Hurricane Matthew which caused our family in Charleston, South Carolina, to evacuate. Thankfully all are well and back home after 6 days to minor damage.
I seem to be very busy working on many projects at once, but have very few finishes. I have managed to complete a set of these little cushions.
These little guys keep multiplying, too. I try to keep a supply of these to give as baby gifts, but now I have a few adults who have hinted that they would like one as a birthday gift also.
I made a set of these little ribbon cushions for the local quilt shop and also wrote a pattern for them to share with customers.
My take in the car project at the moment is crochet – hexagons. I am slow but happy to keep plodding along. I am up to about 50 of these. No idea how many will be needed for a blanket but I am sure when I get there it will make sense.
My plan for the next few days is to sandwich some quilt tops and maybe even start the quilting.
I hope you have some lovely stitching plans also.
Cheers, Karen
Awwwww… you are always working on the cutest things. You’ll be ready for Christmas before you know it, and I haven’t even started thinking about it yet! Yikes.
I love the ribbon cushions….such a cute idea!!
Sad to hear about all the wind and weather damage both for your side of the country and your family overseas. Here in the west we had some pretty strong winds too, and we’re expecting more in a few days time. You have been busy on all fronts with your crafts. Love the crocheted hexie shapes, lovely colours.
So glad to hear your family in the states are ok!
Lovely little cushions multiplying at your place.
Love your crochet hexies, they’ll make a lovely blanket.
What pretty projects you keep going. I love the crocheted hexies, and working on them when in the car is a great way to spend that time. Those fun monkeys are too cute: I bet the kids who get them are thrilled.
I think those cushions are my favorite…I can see them sitting on my sofa over the holidays. :-)
I can see why you have to keep making those little guys–who doesn’t love a monkey?!? All your little projects are adorable!
You are always working on something gorgeous Karen. Love your adorable snowmen pillows and your beautiful crocheting.
Hi Karen ,oh i am glad your family o/s’s is ok ,such a worry.
I love your cushions and especially the ribbon ones, which i am very lucky to own one.
Your monkeys are so cute and i can see why the adults want one too, lol.
Love your crochet also my friend, and i hope your day is a good one xx
So happy your family was safe as Hurricane Matthew ravaged up the USA east coast. So much destruction and lost lives from the slow moving hurricane. Wonderful finishes Karen…you have been busy. I’m missing my sewing room with our furnishing still in storage since July 12. It has been a stressful 3 months…our house is to close on Friday now, after a 2 week delay. Hoping all goes well and the weather cooperates with the moving van coming on Monday and our appliances on Thursday October 20.
Lots of cute projects! I don’t usually like sock monkeys, but yours are adorable! Glad your family is safe….
Hi Karen, it’s a lovely time of year to be in the garden – before it gets too hot. All your cushions are just lovely….
Hugz
I’m so happy to hear you and your overseas family are all safe. How lucky you chopped those branches down the day before. Those snowmen pillows are so cute and the monkeys will be such fun friends for little babies. I can see those ribbon cushions being popular for Christmas. Happy sandwich making!
You are a fiber art whirlwind!! Lovely things going on at your house…
My goodness you have been productive Karen! Good luck with your quilting- basting is the worst job of all!
