A New Start For The New Year.

I do still have a few UFOs to finish, but it is always great to start something new at the beginning of the year.
In keeping with my love of bright colours I have chosen these fabrics.
And I planning to use them in this pattern.
This is Kitchen Window from Elizabeth Hartman’s book, The Practical Guide To Patchwork. I will use the black for framing but will change the background to white or cream.
I have nearly finished this UFO.
This is a mystery quilt I started 12 months ago. I finished the quilting last night. The binding went on this morning and now I only have the hand stitching left to do.
I have enjoyed a lot of time relaxing between Christmas and New Year. Most time was spent reading the last four books in the Elm Creek Quilt series, and now I am enjoying Mrs Lincoln’s Dressmaker.
It is sometimes funny the little bits and pieces we collect over the Christmas break. I have really enjoyed seeing all the different supermarket bags that came out in seasonal decorations.
And of course all the biscuit tins. (But I always wait until after Christmas for those when they are on special.)
I am pleased to have all the Christmas decorations down and packed away, as well as all the holiday washing done.
I think that deserves a cuppa and a book to read!
It is so nice to get all the holiday decorations put away. It’s a real chore for me. I love dragging them out, but never want to put them away! LOL! You deserve a big cuppa, and time to work on your new “Window” quilt! That looks like to much fun!
Lovely bright colors! Love that ‘Kitchen Window’ quilt, it’s going to look great with your choice of fabrics. Can’t wait to see your UFO done! I got two books of J.G. for Christmas, have to finish another book before I start reading them. What a cute supermarket bag and biscuit tin!
Can’t wait to see your Kitchen Window. Glad you took a little time over the holidays to read a few good books! Enjoy your day.
Hi Karen, I love the fabrics you have lined up for your Kitchen Window project!! Those are going to make a fabulous quilt. Can’t wait to see it in progress :)
Also, the Elm Creek books are one of my favorite series. Happy sewing! Linda

Those fabrics will be perfect for the kitchen window quilt! I always seem to get a new tin or two! This year I got a beauty with plum puddings- eaten on Christmas Day and now holding my embroidery thread!
