Eggs And Santa.

Summer. The perfect time to be working on a Christmas quilt? I suppose it means it will be ready for Christmas.

This is a small quilt I had sandwiched and pinned a while back. It has waited for a few months before I had time to do the quilting.

I only had a small amount of the main fabric and decided to make a simple quilt with strips using the Santas, Penguins and the Polar Bears.

Because it was small I was also able to find a suitable fabric in my stash for the backing and binding.

I also decided to work on a project from another holiday – Easter. This is a cute little felt egg and a bunny. I hope to make a few more of these before Easter arrives.

The idea comes from a lovely design found here.

Earlier this morning there was a lot of noise outside. It turns out that a flock of cockatoos was enjoying a party on our front lawn and in our trees.

Looks like we have a few warm days ahead of us. Hope your week is good.

  • So much cuteness, Karen!

  • That is so neat – cockatoos in your yard!

The Christmas quilt is very effective, even in a simple pattern and you’ve done a great job on the quilting.

AND, the bunny and Easter egg are just the cutest!

    Hi Karen,
Getting in early is a great idea for Christmas. I just love your quilt, nice backing material as well. The egg and bunny are cute, Easter isn’t really too far away!!
You have cockies all over the lawn, we have the Major Mitchell’s flying all over the place!!! Great place Australia.
    Regards, Anita.

You’re having a festive time over there, even the cockatoos are joining in. The little egg is so cute, and good on you for getting ahead for Christmas!!

Your Easter project is sEw adorable. I’m going to try to make one for each of the grandpeeps. Luv your row quilt too. Last week at our quilt guild meeting we got our instructions for our next challenge….due at our September meeting. It is a row quilt, maximum size 6o” x 60″. I think I can get this one done….I have some Christmas row fabric in lime greens and reds and it will work perfect and if I find some spare time I would like to do an angel row quilt….it’s an applique pattern made with homespun fabrics. I’m going to make it just not sure if it will be finished for the challenge. …hugs

What a fun way to use small amounts of border prints. I have a couple in my stash that I love but don’t have any idea just what to do with. Isn’t it fun at be able to say I had enough in my stash to finish this with? I love “free” quilts that I don’t have to shop for more supplies for!! :-)

Your little felt bunnie and egg is adorable. Hard to believe Easter is right around the corner.

Enjoy what is left of your summer, and know that those of us in cold weather are envious of you right now! :-)

I love seeing photos of where you live! It’s fun to peek into other parts of the globe!

  • That is a very cute bunny Karen and I always end up finishing off Christmas at any time other than Christmas when life is too hectic. Lovely quilt. Take care.

I can’t believe it! :) I have a few UFO’s using the same Debbie Mumm fabrics! I just love those stripes and your quilt turned out soooo cute! Love the way you have quilted it. Very pretty! And that darling Easter bunny! It’s still so hot here, but in 3-4 weeks we expect it to get cooler, I just can’t wait!
    Happy quilting!
I almost forgot to say by that quilt you have inspired me to finish my D.Mumm projects! :)
