Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

Delightful.

Posted on January 6, 2011 | 4 Comments

I had a delightful parcel arrive in my mailbox today. These gorgeous blocks were sent to me by Pauline ( Quilt n Queen ). I was the very lucky winner of her give away last month. I can’t tell you how excited I was to open the parcel and see the wonderful snowmen, reindeer and trees.

The blocks are beautifully stitched by Pauline.  She is such a skilled embroiderer. I am so lucky!!!

Have a  look at Pauline’s blog to see how she has used the blocks in her quilt. They look great. And that’s not all! Pauline has embroidered several sets of these blocks. Isn’t she just amazing!!!

Sorry – that last photo is blurry.

And just to top everything off, look at the wonderful snowman wrapping paper. (I think the design of the wrapping paper would make a good quilt, too.)

Now I have to decide fabrics and patterns to use with these blocks.

Please visit Pauline. Wander around her blog and have a look at her wonderful work.

Thank you so much, Pauline. I am thrilled with my blocks!!!

Happy New Year.

Posted on January 1, 2011 | 5 Comments

A new day and a New Year. Love the date, too ….. 1-1-11. I do get excited about little things like that.

Well! I am also excited about the year to come. I had a great time in 2010 with family, friends, travel and sewing. I have had a whole year since retirement and I just LOVE it! Love the idea of being able to do the same again, and more, this year.

I am looking forward to loads more sewing and keeping contact with the bloggy friends I have made throughout the year. There’s lots happening with family, and travel is on the horizon, too.

I hope your outlook for the New Year is positive and inspiring!

Sleepy Santa.

Posted on December 26, 2010 | 2 Comments

After all the hard work of delivering presents around the world, Santa needs to put on his PJs and get ready for bed.

He has his favourite teddy.

And he wears his comfy slippers.

Thank you, Santa, for all your hard work!

Merry Christmas.

This says it all!

And The Last Of The Snowmen.

Posted on December 24, 2010 | 2 Comments

No chance of snow here. We have a forecast of a lovely, sunny 28 degrees Celsius for the big day. Strangely, though, just over a week ago we did have snow in the mountains. You just never know what is around the corner!

These are just a few more of the Santas I have made over the years.

A Christmas Corner.

Posted on December 22, 2010 | Comments Off on A Christmas Corner.

Just a little decorated corner. Most of the ornaments are hanging on a cane tree. The embroidery on the wall is Mill Hill. What a shame I didn’t hide the computer cable! The skittles are from Villa and Hut.

Some are made with bells.

Excited!

Just a little bit excited here! Well maybe a whole lot, really!!!!

I found out that I am the lucky winner of some beautifully stitched snowmen blocks from Pauline.

Pauline had them there as part of Sew, Mama, Sew’s give away day.

Please visit Pauline, QuiltnQueen, to have a look at her wonderful work.

I am just going to keep pinching myself to make sure this is real!

Thank you so much, Pauline.

Table Runners and a Mug Rug.

Posted on December 21, 2010 | 1 Comment

I have finished the last of my sewing to be used as gifts for Christmas.

These table runners are from Disa Designs.

The next photo is to show Robyn how much I am enjoying my gorgeous mug rug.

There’s a little friend in the pic as well! (Sorry the shot is a bit crooked- had trouble keeping the goanna still.)

Another big thank you to Robyn. I consider myself to be very lucky to have received such a generous gift!
