Snowflakes.

Snowflakes in September! I shouldn’t joke about that. The way our weather is here, anything is possible, even though it is Spring.
My snowflakes refer to the felt ornaments I have been making. The first group are made using a mitten shape from one of the patterns from Rachel’s Of Greenfield.
I have than added my own touch. I have use a Stampin’Up die to cut the snowflakes using the Sissix. A little bit of embroidery has been added using the pattern ideas.
Once the idea of cutting the snowflakes had worked I decided to work on some more decoration ideas I had seen on Pinterest. I made a star template and also used the snowflake die cuts again. Same idea with a little embroidery and lots of buttons. I started with the red felt then started to play with the pink and the lavender.
I enjoy working with felt and it is always good to have a hand sewing project like this on hand.
Just a quick note on cutting the snowflakes with the die – I found that it worked best when I ironed vliesofix onto the felt first. I also ran the die through the machine twice for each flake.
If anyone has tips on better ways to cut the felt using the dies I am interested to hear about it.
these ornaments are just so spectacular and so gorgeous!
lots of other loveliness on your blog too.
You have created little masterpieces in each one, the stitched snowflakes are very pretty! I’ve cut a few snowflakes from felt by hand; I am sure the die makes them so much easier ~
:-}pokey
Sooo cute! There may be a snowflake die in my future!
These are just so darn cute! Love them!
Hi Karen,
You are a patient budgie re the snowflakes but they look gorgeous. They will be a nice addition for Christmas.
Cheers, Anita.
Love those stars! I think the Sissix is more versatile than the GO it has far more dies to choose from….have to put one on my Christmas list!! And stop mentioning SNOW in September please LOL it will come soon enough. Hugs x
Those are just lovely …. so pretty…. I have only used a Go Baby with bigger pieces – the firmer the better….
Hugz
I sure like how beautiful your ornaments are turning out! Those mittens are just so sweet, as are the snowflakes and the earlier snowmen. We are having a gorgeous fall, but I know our mittens will be in use soon!
