Finally February.

It has taken until February for me to finally post a sewing item. I thought I would have had time to do this earlier, but obviously there have been a lot of distractions. But I am now spending time in my lovely sewing room, and definitely enjoying it!
This quilt is one of many started a while back. It was close to finished, but then was put aside as others came along. I am making an effort to work on all of them. There are not as many as I thought, thankfully. Seven found so far. I am realistic because I haven’t checked everywhere just yet.

This quilt was started when we were all going crazy for Denise Schmidt fabric. I bought pieces with no plan in mind. In the end I settled on this tumbler design. It has ended up at 55 inches square. I was able to finish sewing all the tumblers together and found I had plenty of fabric left for the borders.

I did have to add some blues to the mix and that was the first border before the wider one of DS fabric.

I also used the leftovers for backing. Again the blue came in handy just to make it the right width.

By this stage I had run out of DS stash, so found some blue with white dot for the binding.

I used the repeated teardrop design for the quilting. It seems good for adding texture.
So there we go. First finish for the year. And about time! I am glad to be back to some regular sewing.
Enjoy your weekend. Cheers, Karen

Love the tumbler blocks! The polka dot binding is so cute and looks like it fits right in with the DS fabrics! Awesome quilting, Karen!!!
Great finish. Love those greens and blues.
That’s really a pretty quilt Karen – I’m glad you were able to find anther blue that worked with the original fabrics so well.
Blue and green are always winners, in my book. Those DS fabrics really turn back the clock, Karen.
Great quilt Karen, I do love the look of tumbler blocks all together. I agree with the texture with repeat quilting design like that…
Great finish for February!!
