Pin Cushion Play.

Over the last two weeks I have been able to attend a class with Nicole at Sewing Connection to work on Sue Spargo style embroidery and wool work.
It has been wonderful to learn about a variety of techniques when working with wool and finding out about the various threads to use for this embroidery.
We started with something small – a pin cushion.
Mine was a pomegranate design. Lots of lovely stitches I was familiar with and a few new ones to learn to do. Perfect.
I have been enjoying stitching while the tennis is on. Looks like they are in for a hot one for the finals of the Australian Open as our temps are predicted to be 39c plus for the last three days.
I will be staying inside for those days.
Cheers, Karen
That is a wonderful little project! The different stitches are so interesting to look at!
Beautiful work….it looks relaxing!!!
Your wool pincushion is devine. The colors are bright and the stitching beautiful. Looks like it was a great class.
Karen, your work is meticulous! Your little pin cushion is a real treasure. Stay cool, somehow, and enjoy the tennis!
I have always admired Sue Spargo’s work… lovely to go to a workshop and I just love that pincushion…. beautifully done…

This pincushion is really lovely. You are magical with stitchery, Karen! Although I’ve never met her or had a class with her, Sue Spargo lives about an hour drive from me.
Beautiful Karen!
Love Sue’s bright wooly style

How gorgeous is that! So lovely Karen. Sounds like you had a great time xx
I think you have the perfect project for the Tennis finals! Your stitching is truly lovely Karen! I’m curious- are they French knots or Colonial knots dotted about on the orange peel shapes?
