A Not So Nice Surprise.

After a wonderful month of family activities I had planned to return to my sewing and catch up on a lot of quilting. As you can see there are a lot of flimsies waiting in line to be sandwiched and quilted.
Unfortunately these plans went astray due to the unpleasant surprise I mentioned. I ended up in hospital for 5 days after emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder. My stay was extended longer than normal due to extensive inflammation. Thankfully, due to the wonderful care I received, I am now home feeling very sore but extremely relieved. There is a silver lining to all of this because I did have a thorough check up and I know that everything else is well and healthy.
It will be a little while before I return to quilting and sewing big items, but that’s fine because I do have a lot of little projects to work on.
I have a small Christmas penny rug to complete.
This is part of a pin cushion that is a WIP.
I am still practicing my crocheting – still a long way to go.
And the beads are being sewn onto the berries for the woollen blanket.
I know there are dozens more little projects waiting for me so I certainly won’t be wasting my time. And of course I had over 100 emails to catch up on and nearly 500 posts in my blog reader.
I can certainly say that life is not boring!
Hi Karen,
I love all the things you’ve been up to, all sorts of things hey? Your penny rug is too cute!! It will look lovely when you’ve finished it.
Cheers, Anita.
You have almost as much as me to keep busy with. I love having a number of projects on the go.
I hope you have a speedy recovery! Take care and don’t sweat the little (or big) things.
Hope you are feeling better! What a scare! That Santa penny rug is absolutely adorable. Take it easy while you fully recover – those quilts can wait! o:)
Wishing you all the best on the road to recovery! Your stash of quilts is very impressive…you’ve been a busy lady! Love the projects you showed us…particularly love this Santas…so sweet! Take care of yourself!
Karen, I am so sorry that you had to have surgery but am glad that you are feeling better now. I can just see you propped up in your chair, with a stack of projects to work on….am looking forward to seeing them on the blog soon!!!
Happy to hear that you are on the road to recovery, Karen! We can all do without those kind of surprises!

Oh my golly gall bladder!! I’m so glad you are okay and on the mend. At least you have a lot of projects to keep you busy. Life is definitely not boring!
Hi Karen, oh what a bummer, hope you are feeling okay now, take it easy give your body time to recover. Sending you (((hugs))) xxxxx
Oh, NO! I am so sorry. That does not sound like fun at all. Glad you have plenty to keep yourself occupied and really glad you are all right!
Oh boy. So sorry this happened. Don’t get discouraged if it seems like forever to get your strength back. You will! Take care. Love all your little projects!
Hello Karen,
Gosh that first photo is lovely, loved seeing all your quilts waiting to be quilted.
Love that woolen blanket you are working on.
Good luck with the crochet.
Happy recovering.
Bev.
So sorry to hear about your surgery. Hope you are feeling better soon.
I hope you are recovering nicely. I had my gall bladder out on August 29th, home the same day, and back to work on September 9th. It’s amazing how ‘neatly’ they can remove gall bladders. My work leader’s wife had her gall bladder removed on September 5th. Wow. It must be quite a common thing anymore!
Love all your projects. Take care and hope you mend quickly.
so many lovely projects to assist in your recovery. Who would think that such a little body part could cause so much trouble!
Hope you recover quickly.
oh karen, thats a big op…. I hope you are able to rest lots and recover well… then you can get into that delicious pile of quilts… meanwhile some lovely projects for you to play with….
Hugz
Oh No! I hope you’re feeling better by now. Take it easy, and follow the doctors’ orders. Those bigger quilts will still be there when you’re all healed. Hugs!
