More Bertie.

We have had a long weekend here, so I put my head down and made dozens of half square triangles. These are used for the sashings and border for the Bertie quilt.

The end result is that the top is finished.

It has been windy but I managed to get a nearly still picture.

The HSTs went together well but after that my brain took a holiday. I had to unpick some rows several times because I put the triangles upside down. Now I need the clean up the loose threads. I will organise some backingĀ  so that the quilting can get started.

I had to include a picture of my trees in this post. We are half way into June and these trees have finally decided to catch up with the seasons and allow the leaves to change colour. It is happening quite quickly now that it has turned cold. They are a beautiful colour, but it won’t last long.

There it is – a short post.

Have a great week.

Cheers, Karen

What a gorgeous quilt!! The birds and bunny all look like such fun characters. I love the spotty fabric you chose for your HSTs, they look great! Isn’t it funny how sometimes you have those times where you sew things on backwards or upside down.

Gotta love those long weekends, you can squeeze in a few extra things. Your quilt is looking groovy and I love the colour of those leaves on your tree.

  • Your Bertie quilt is delightful! It is a happy looking quilt and you know I like that.

We are in the lush green-ness of hot Summer after a very wet Spring here, so it is a pleasure and a change to see your Autumnal colors.

Oh my goodness, Karen! That bunny sitting in the nest of eggs looks so cute giving the bird a flower…as if to say, “Sorry, momma, didn’t mean to step in. Horrible mistake. I’ll be off now.”

Love, love, love this top. I know you’ll add some beautiful handwork to it. I can’t wait!

Your Bertie is just adorable. Don’t you hate it when things don’t go right. Picking those tiny threads is such a pain! LOL!! Beautiful tree…before you know it, winter will be upon you.

Your Bertie quilt is adorable–love it! I’ve made a couple of Kathy Schmitz’s designs and love her artwork.
It’s so strange to see the leaves changing color when we are experiencing Spring on my side of the world. Enjoy those beautiful colors!

That’s a LOT of HST’s. I love the Bertie blocks, not sure why I’ve never made any.

This is the second quilt I have admired this week which has a delightful border of HSTs. Don’t they set off the picture blocks so well! All the more because they are spotted too! Lovely quilt top Karen!
