Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

Spring Bunny, Birds And Flowers.

Back again, thanks to a heads up from Mary. And sorry to anyone who tried to comment and couldn’t with the last post. There was a gremlin in the mix but thankfully my amazing computer whiz (son) fixed it. I am very grateful for that.

On to all things sewing.  I had shown Bertie’s Spring when it was a flimsy, but now it is a finished quilt. It was a grey day but the quilting still shows up.

I outlined every block, echo quilted all the HSTs and then meandered around the wool applique. I used the same fabric for the binding as was in the triangles.

My wool flower collection is steadily growing and is at the half way mark.

There are lots of real flowers blooming in the garden with the start of Spring. And plenty of water for them. We are having a very wet start to Spring, with some areas of the state in flood. My thoughts go out to those affected and thanks to all the volunteer workers helping them.

Cheers, Karen

Oh good grief all this computer stuff. Your not showing in my feed again???? So here I am catching up once again. Glad your son got your comments working for you. Bertie is just too cute. I love seeing wool in quilts and you sure know how to make them shine!

    Hello Karen,

You must be so pleased with how this quilt has turned out, love how you quilted it. What threads do you use to sew on the wool pieces?
Yes and awful lot of rain over your way.

    Happy days.
    Bev.

Bertie’s Spring (as a flimsy) was so much fun and the wool really worked. But WOW the quilting has transformed it! The wool just pops forward and that calm background recedes so that the characters and flowers take center stage. Great idea to use the HST fabric for binding. Anything else would have taken away from the bunny and birds.

I’d forgotten about your wool flowers. All together like that I immediately think of a whimsical bouquet. Anxious to see where they go.

Karen the quilt is very too cute and good timing for the spring time. It’s nice to hear the birds chirping in the trees in the morning now. I reckon your wool flower collection is smashing hot girl. They are very effective, love the stitching and colours.
