Christmas Crazy.

Posted on | November 15, 2016 | 11 Comments

A quilt finish!! Yay! I had a pack of turnovers and some leftover fabric from the Crazy Eights range. I did a bit of juggling and was able to make this lap/wall size quilt.

I headed outside for photos but really battled with the wind. This is the best I could do.

It is a really different fabric to use for Christmas.

I did a bit of FMQ all over.

I used a variegated blue thread. Not sure that the colour changes show in the photo.

There was a lovely stripe in the range that was perfect for the binding.

And as you can see, I had a bit of fun with the backing fabric.

All in all, a good finish with limited fabric.

Hope your week is travelling well.

Cheers, Karen

  • Hmm, unusual colors for Christmas, but still Christmas-y in feeling. And anything goes these days. I saw black ornaments last year and was impressed at how good they looked. Just goes to show that it’s the feeling and love of the holiday that counts, not the colors. Besides, that blue is gorgeous and works beautifully with the rest of the fabrics. Such a pretty quilt!

  • What a beautiful quilt. You are so clever Karen and the quilting is lovely xx

This is a wonderful quilt!! You’re so good at finishing quilts! It’s a great pattern for showing off those fabrics, it’s pretty but bold at the same time. I think you did a great job with the photos, the wind can can make taking quilt photos into an adventure.

Oh there is just nothing better than getting a new quilt out of scraps from something else. These colors are just beautiful together. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! :-)

  • What a lovely Christmas quilt! Love the modern colors and such cute backing fabric.

Lovely Karen! I really like how well the aqua plays with those other darker, more traditional colours!

That’s really cute, Karen! And the best part about it – it’s finished!! I started 3 tops at retreat, and worked on a UFO, but no finishes. Such cute backing.
