Sunburnt Quilts

Quilts, Patchwork & Embroidery

Reindeer Mischief.

I think the  reindeer in this wall hanging look like they are ready to get into a bit of mischief. They do bring a smile to my face when I see them. This is an older one of Santa and his friend.

Santa and Friend.

Another of my collection of wall hangings from Cubby House Designs. (Same as the Deer Oh Deer pattern – told you they just keep coming!) A lot of the pieces are fused to batting before being hand stitched. This raised the pieces to give a 3D effect. The little bit of embroidery was done in […]

Late Cards.

I know! I am running very late with making my cards for Christmas this year. I finally had all the parts made. And then was organised and put the pieces together together. Now I just have to write in them …. and address all the envelopes!

The Santas Are Multiplying.

My Santas are set out together in their own little corner. They are keeping an eye on the tree, hopefully thinking about a few gifts that may go under it!

Friday’s Colours of Christmas.

This is our last Colourful Friday for this year. I have difficulty choosing the colours I think represent Christmas. I do love the traditional red and green, but I also love the gorgeous colours we are seeing in the new Christmas fabrics. So maybe there is a rainbow of colours for Christmas, too! To illustrate […]

Some Quilted Trees.

These are a couple of little wall hanging I have made to use for decoration each Christmas. I think the first one was made from a magazine pattern. It is embellished quite simply with novelty buttons. The next was an early effort with hand embroidery and machine stippling. It is always interesting to look back […]

Penny Rug.

I do like the ease of working with felt in penny rugs. The felt is so soft to work with and there are so many rich colours in the wool felt. I do most of my sewing by machine so I enjoy the change to handstitching with something as simple as this penny rug. This […]

Friday Teal.

Teal was a bit of a tricky one for this week. Finding it was the first thing that was hard. But taking a photo that shows the true colour was even harder! Visit Robyn at Daisy Quilts to see how everyone fared with teal this week.  I wonder if anyone has some gorgeous Christmas decorations […]

Start Decorating.

All the boxes have been taken out of storage and it is time to rediscover all the goodies inside. It is lovely to see friendly faces, like this Santa, again. This Santa is made from a pattern named The Heart of Christmas by             Time Worn Treasures. He is about 30 inches tall.
